Embassy of Poland in Nairobi supports the development project in Embu (Mount Kenya) "Rebuilding the Mount Kenya forest and the improvement of life of the local community."

The project involves the reconstruction of the forest and the distribution the seedlings of fruit trees and trees suitable for animal feed among the local farmers. The project partner "Trees for the Future" organization, works with groups of about 30 people (mostly women). The members of the groups help each other and work together, contributing to the empowerment of women in the local community. (Kenyan rural women often carry the burden of supporting the whole family.  They are also still, excluded  from  the land inheritance proceedings, contrary to the provision of the Kenyan law).  More than 1,500 people benefited from the project.
