Undersecretary of State Katarzyna Kacperczyk spoke about the prospects for fostering economic, scientific, technological and investment cooperation between Poland and Sweden during working consultations that were held in Stockholm on 27 and 28 April.

In Sweden’s capital, the deputy foreign minister met with Oscar Stenström, State Secretary at the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation, responsible for innovation support strategies. The prospects for fostering economic and investment cooperation between Poland and Sweden were among the subjects raised at a meeting with Eva Walder, Director-General for Trade at the Swedish MFA, and a delegation from Business Sweden. The meetings were also an occasion to discuss the diplomatic activities of both countries in the area of economic diplomacy and joint projects to promote their economies on foreign markets.

R&D cooperation and joint innovation projects were the focus of a meeting with the board of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. “Sweden is a perfect example of improvements and changes in science and new technologies,” emphasised Deputy Minister Kacperczyk, recalling that our northern neighbour, being a highly innovative economy, took the third place in the Global Innovation Index 2014, right after Switzerland and the UK.

Sweden is Poland’s important trade and investment partner in the EU. Since 2003, we have maintained a positive trade balance, and the trade volume between our countries has been on a constant rise, reaching EUR 7.7 billion in 2014.
