Economic cooperation between Poland and the Brazilian state of Goiás, as well as opportunities for Polish infrastructure companies were top of the agenda during Deputy Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk’s meeting with José Eliton de Figuerêdo Júnior, Deputy Governor of Goiás state. The two officials held talks in Warsaw on 3 July.

Deputy Minister Kacperczyk recalled this year’s decision to set up a Polish-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, and the active involvement of the Polish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the Brazilian market.

“This parallel work will benefit all the companies concerned,” said the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy. “I’m happy that more and more Brazilian entrepreneurs and local government officials visit Poland. It shows that they notice opportunities in the Polish market, and that the MFA’s efforts to intensify economic contacts between regions are successful,” she added.

Deputy Minister Kacperczyk also referred to the value of Poland’s railway industry. She pointed out that as a country with one of the most developed rail and tram systems, Poland is interested in collaboration in this field.

Goiás state’s economic mission to Poland also included businesspeople, chiefly from the food sector. The mission’s aim was to explore avenues for cooperation, especially in the food, machine and pharmaceutical sectors. In Warsaw, the mission members met with Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Janusz Piechociński, and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Trade and Investment between Goiás state and the Polish Chamber of Commerce.
