“Close partnership between our countries is of key importance not only for bilateral relations but also from the perspective of cooperation within V4. It is essential that we maintain solidarity and work out common positions within this format,” said Minister Jacek Czaputowicz after today’s meeting with his Czech counterpart.

Recently appointed Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Tomáš Petříček paid his first bilateral visit to Warsaw. During the meeting, the ministers discussed key issues concerning the European agenda and Polish-Czech security partnership. “Security cooperation is a very important aspect of our Polish-Czech relations. The Czechs are one of our key partners in this area,” stressed the chief of Polish diplomacy. The ministers also talked about US presence in the field of Poland’s and Czech Republic’s security systems, support for US presence in the Middle East, as well as the US involvement in energy security.

The two ministers discussed the importance of Poland’s and the Czech Republic’s cooperation within the Three Seas Initiative. Minister Czaputowicz highlighted the fact that Prague joined the initiative of establishing the Three Seas Fund by signing a letter of intent during the Bucharest summit.

Other topics included preparations for the upcoming 6th Polish-Czech Intergovernmental Consultations, planned for 15 November this year, during which delegations will talk about collaboration in the fields of industry, trade, energy, development, environment, infrastructure and agriculture.

Furthermore, next year marks the 10th anniversary of establishing Programme Councils of the Polish-Czech Forum, a special cooperation platform at Foreign Ministries of Poland and the Czech Republic. In this context, the ministers discussed the preparations for the celebrations to mark this event.

Tomáš Petříček invited Polish foreign minister to the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of Poland and the Czech Republic joining the North Atlantic Alliance, which are to be held in Prague in March 2019.
