    Please be informed that there will be a start of operations of the Visa Information System (VIS) in the United Kingdom as from November 20th 2015.

    The start of operations means that the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London will start collecting fingerprints and digital photos from visa applicants and that the applicants’ data will be stored in the VIS.

     

    First –time applicants will always have to appear in person when lodging the application in order to provide their photograph and fingerprints. For subsequent applications within 5 years the fingerprints will be copied from the previous application file in the VIS.

     

    Nevertheless please be informed that in case of reasonable doubt regarding the identity of the applicant, the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London shall collect again fingerprints within 5 year period specified above.

     

    In accordance with Article 13(7) of the Visa Code, the following categories of applicants are exempted from the requirement to provide fingerprints:

    • children under the age of 12;
    • persons from whom fingerprinting is physically impossible;
    • heads of State or government and members of a national government, and the members of their official delegation when they are invited by Member State government or by international organisation for an official purpose;
    • sovereigns and other senior members of a royal family, when they are invited by Member State government or by international organisation for an official purpose.

    Please note that as from November 20th 2015 visa applications sent by post form applicants who did not provide their fingerprints before will not be accepted.
