“Business contacts between Poland and Peru have become more frequent. We should continue to develop our strategic partnership to make our economies even more competitive,” underlined MFA Undersecretary of State Beata Stelmach during the conference “Peru: Poland’s Strategic Partner in South America.” The seminar was organised on 30 September in Warsaw on the 90th anniversary of the establishment of Poland-Peru diplomatic relations.

The major objective of the conference, attended by Polish and Peruvian businessmen, was a presentation of the economic and investment potential of both countries. Poland-Peru trade has been growing systematically. In 2012, Poland’s exports to Peru rose by 40% relative to 2011. Peru’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade Carlos Posada Ugaz, who headed the official  delegation, was accompanied by representatives of Peruvian companies.

Deputy Minister Stelmach met with the head of the Peruvian delegation to discuss Poland’s and Peru’s cooperation in the run-up to Warsaw’s COP19 and Lima’s COP20 climate summits. The deputy ministers also talked about the benefits of signing a trade agreement between the EU, Peru and Columbia.
