“Preserving and strengthening Poland’s independence and sovereignty, ensuring its security, prosperity and high position among other nations are key goals of Polish foreign policy,” Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said during his today’s address at the Warsaw East European Conference 2018.

The speech delivered by the chief of Polish diplomacy launched the 15th edition of the international conference, held at the Warsaw University and organized by its Centre for East European Studies. This year, the conference explored the theme of independence, both in its national and economic aspect, as well as in the context of energy security. “Independence became the motto of our foreign policy, guiding us in our relations with other states, especially with the countries of our region,” Minister Jacek Czaputowicz stressed in his speech referring to the centenary of Poland’s regained independence celebrated this year.

This year’s edition, dedicated traditionally to Eastern Europe, brought together experts from Poland and abroad who deal with the issues of Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and the Baltic states.
