The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that two employees of Telewizja Polska SA (TVP), who had been kept in custody in Syria, returned to Poland on 23 December.

Their release and return home have been possible by the successful work of the Polish diplomatic and consular service.

Two TVP crew members were arrested in the city of Qamishli (Syria) on 16 November. The journalists had been shooting documentaries about Polish development and humanitarian assistance for the victims of the conflict with the Islamic State and about the situation in Iraq’s Kurdistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises that all travel abroad, particularly to places in conflict, should be made in compliance with domestic regulations of the visited countries, with careful attention given to security considerations. Please also be reminded to obey recommendations of Polish consular services. Polish citizens wishing to travel abroad are reminded to consult the MFA website’s foreign travel advice section for important information about individual countries.
