The exposition presents the rich history of the Polish diaspora in Italy, to which Poles and their achievements contributed, creating today's positive image of Poland in Italy.

"Artistic photographs and histories of the persons on those pictures tell a captivating tale of Polish immigration to Italy and the influence of the modern history of Poland on that diaspora,” Jerzy Adamczyk, Polish Consul General in Milan said at the opening reception.

The first visitors of the Faces of the Polish Diaspora exhibition were Erasmus LLP students. Members of the Management Board of the Association of Poles in Italy, Polish diaspora representatives and Expo visitors also took part in the opening event.

"We would like to prove we are a new empire when it comes to Polish rural areas and Polish food processing sector. We want to present, as today’s exhibition demonstrates, the achievements of the Polish diaspora in Italy, as well as the diverse and the most interesting faces of Poland," said Sławomir Majman, Commissioner General of the Polish Section of Expo, who restated Poland’s objectives set for the World Expo in Milan.

More information about the exhibition can be found under the Faces of the Polish Diaspora tab. Expo is the largest and the most prestigious promotional event in the world with participants from 145 countries. The organisers expect over 20 million people to attend the fair. More than 20,000 people visit the Polish Expo Pavilion every day. The exhibition will be open to the public until 31 October.
