  • During her official visit to London to attend the "Supporting Syria and the Region" summit, Prime Minister met relatives of the last President of the Polish Government in Exile - Ryszard Kaczorowski

Private meeting between Beata Szydło and President Kaczorowski’s widow took place just before PM’s address to the Polish community gathered at the Embassy in London. Later both paid a tribute to the gallery of portraits of former Polish Presidents residing in London, unveiled in December 2015 as a part of commemorations of the 25th anniversary of handing over the presidential insignia marking the official completion of the Polish Government in Exile’s mission.

First Lady Karolina Kaczorowska (born 1930 in Stanisławów, Poland) is a widow of Ryszard Kaczorowski, the last President of the Republic of Poland in exile (1989-1990). She is an emigration activist, teacher and former scout; deeply involved in charity work, including Unification of Polish women in the UK. After Poland regained independence in 1989 she accompanied her husband to a series of state visit to Poland, until his tragic death in Smoleńsk air catastrophe in 2010. Lady Kaczorowska continues her husband’s work and legacy in the UK and abroad.
