The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland considers the conduct by a Polish citizen and Member of the European Parliament, Janusz Korwin-Mikke, who visited the Autonomous Republic of Crimea without consent of the competent Ukrainian authorities, to be highly irresponsible.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphatically rejects any attempts to portray this trip as action aimed at showing “the real situation” of the peninsula’s inhabitants to the public.

Together with the entire European Union and a significant part of the international community, the Republic of Poland does not recognize the annexation of Crimea, and strongly distances itself from all actions and statements legitimising the violations of international law and Ukraine’s territorial integrity by the Russian Federation.

We also draw attention to the fact that the European Parliament has vigorously condemned the Russian annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which remains part of Ukraine under the applicable international law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would further like to recall that Polish citizens are obligated to comply with the regulations on foreign nationals’ stay in the entire Ukrainian territory.
