The Baltic Sea Region is a hub of extensive cooperation and even though the region is currently facing new challenges, readiness to build upon up-to-date achievements as well as a new connectedness with neighbouring regions, is apparent. The necessity of regional relations positively contributing to the development on a global scale is becoming more important with time. The attractiveness of the Baltic Sea Region as a model of regional cooperation is expanding.
The Council of the Baltic Sea States is an organisation based on solid and well operating structures, with unique experience and developed expert networks. It offers space for the continuation of pragmatic cooperation and sustains people-to-people contacts in many disciplines, which are conducive for the lives of people in the region. Poland will act as a Presidency in CBSS from 1 July 2015.
