On 15-16 January the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, paid a visit to Ukraine. During a meeting with the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ukraine Volodymir Lytvin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Volodymyr Ohryzko and members of the government, the direction of strategy and issues regarding bi-lateral cooperation with particular emphasis of economic issues was discussed. International issues connected with bringing Ukraine closer to western structures, the transit and supply of gas to Europe and the internal situation in both countries was also discussed.
A meeting with local leaders in Vinnica, where there are plans to open a Polish Consulate General, was aimed at underlining the importance that the Polish authorities attach to the development of consular relations with Ukraine. A meeting also took place in Vinnica with representatives of the Polish minority in central Ukraine.
During the visit, the ministers were accompanied by representatives of other departments, including the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of State Treasury, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Interior and Administration as well as representatives of the Polish business community.
