Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again expresses its deep concern over the escalation of violence in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We sincerely deplore the growing number of victims of terrorist acts. Acts of violence deserve firm condemnation by the international community.
We condemn bomb attacks and clashes between ethnic and religious groups that took place in the last few weeks. We call on to immediately stop acts of violence and resume peaceful coexistence of believers of different religions. We appeal to the FRN authorities to ensure security of all inhabitants regardless of their faith or ethnic affiliation.
It is with great anxiety that we view the fact that the difficult situation of Christians in Nigeria may be perceived in a broader context of anti-Christian campaign present in various regions of the world. MFA has condemn and still condemns, in different fora, the discrimination against Christians, the most persecuted religious group in the world.
The multicultural and multi-religious Federal Republic should be an example of a broad and peaceful social dialogue, actively supported by both central and local authorities.
