Sikorski at G8 foreign ministers’ meeting in Trieste

On June 26-27 Minister Radosław Sikorski attended an extended meeting of G8 foreign ministers in Trieste, devoted to Afghanistan and the Regional Dimension (“The International Community Support to the Regional Dimension – Promoting Regional Integrated Approach to Peace and Security through Economic and Social Development”).

In addition to G8 foreign ministers, the event was being attended by representatives of the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and foreign ministers of over 30 states, mainly from the region of South and Central Asia, as well as the foreign ministers of the states and representatives of the international institutions (UNAMA, UNDOC, UNHCR, NATO) making the greatest contribution to Afghanistan’s stabilization and reconstruction. The meeting had the goal of giving a regional dimension to the efforts of the international community in Afghanistan.

During the meeting Minister Sikorski addressed a panel devoted to refugees, migration and human resources. Two other panels was devoted to economic development and infrastructure, and agriculture and food security.
