On 5th – 7th December 2008, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jan Borkowski, will accompany Polish President, Lech Kaczyński, during his official visit to the Republic of Korea. Minister Borkowski will sign the Programme of cultural, scientific and educational cooperation between the governments of the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Korea for 2009 – 2011.
The Programme will be the first executive act under the Cultural Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Korea signed in Warsaw on 9th July 1993. It will cover cooperation in the fields of culture and the arts, social communication, science, education, sports and the young and will enhance the cultural and scientific cooperation between Poland and the Republic of Korea. This will particularly be so in the context of the 2009 celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and two important events which are to take place in 2010: the Chopin Year celebrations and the 4th ASEM Culture Ministers' Meeting. The Programme also includes a scholarship offer of benefit to both countries.
