In connection with the approaching Independence Day national holiday, on 7 November in MFA Main Building, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, performed a presentation of exhibits illustrating the tradition of Polish diplomacy. The exposition constitutes the beginning of a wider exhibition which will be displayed in the MFA as appropriate exhibits are obtained.
Among the exhibits are: an Order of the White Eagle cross purchased recently from the legacy of Ignacy J. Paderewski, a portrait of Piotr Potocki, the last envoy of the Noble Republic to the Great Port in Istanbul, on loan from the museum at Wilanów Palace, as well as a historical tailcoat and three-cornered hat used in the II Republic diplomatic service. The tailcoat belonged to Henryk Stebelski, an attaché to the Polish Embassy in Paris, and from 1943 Polish Consul in Mexico, and was presented as a gift to the MFA by his son Wojciech Stebelski, who served as the Polish Honorary Consul in Mexico.
