The 6th Polish-Spanish intergovernmental consultations, co-chaired by the two premiers, were held in the Polish town of Sopot on November 9, with the participation of Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski. The consultations, held alternately in Poland and Spain, constitute the main mechanism of contacts between the Polish and Spanish governments and ministries.
The latest round of consultations had the aim of strengthening political dialog, advancing economic relations, including investments, and tightening cooperation before the two countries’ EU presidencies.
Poland and Spain pledged mutual support for each other’s priorities within the EU, particularly with reference to European Neighborhood Policy initiatives: the Eastern Partnership and the Union for the Mediterranean.
In the course of the consultations the foreign ministers of Poland and Spain signed an agreement under which Polish officials will take part in internships in Spain during the Spanish EU presidency.
