Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi is today, September 8th, paying a working visit to Poland at the invitation of Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
The Foreign Ministers addressed a number of bilateral issues, including ways of boosting trade and investment ties. Minister Qureshi has informed Minister Sikorski that a number of Pakistani companies take interest in opening up their agencies in Poland and operation centres in the EU market.
The talks also addressed questions of the EU-Pakistan relations, such as further access of Pakistani goods to the EU market. Pakistan’s representatives take the view that this would prove the fastest and most effective way to support the country’s modernization efforts.
Foreign Ministers Sikorski and Qureshi also discussed the situation in Pakistan following the country’s deadliest flood in the past 80 years, one that took the lives of about a thousand people and left over 4 million homeless. Minister Sikorski pledged Polish assistance in the international arena, also within the European Union, to aid Pakistan’s disaster recovery efforts.
