 Ambassador Jan Tombiński will become the head of the European Union delegation to Kiev, while Director Adam Kułach will head the EU delegation to Riyadh. The decision to nominate the heads of EU delegations to these and 16 other countries in the 2012 round of nominations was announced today by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.

On May 15, Minister Radosław Sikorski will take part in a meeting of the Future of Europe Group in Vienna hosted by Austria’s Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger. Foreign Ministers of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain are also expected to attend.

On 14 May, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski will head the Polish delegation to the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) session in Brussels.
During the FAC meeting, Foreign Ministers will discuss the situation in Afghanistan, the Middle East peace process, the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood and the planned EU-Mexico summit.

 On 15-16 May 2012 Undersecretary of State Grażyna Bernatowicz will be in Tallinn to take part in Polish-Estonian consultations and the Regional Conference of Polish Ambassadors to Northern European (Baltic and Nordic) and Central European countries.

 The five-day democracy workshop for 40 Myanmar opposition activists ended on Monday, 14 May in Yangon. Its participants, including Aung San Suu Kyi, the General Secretary of the National League for Democracy and the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, received certificates of participation in the workshop.

The closing ceremony of the "Dziękujemy Polsko. Thank You Poland" exhibition, held under the auspices of Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, will take place on 16 May 2012 at 6 p.m. in the Old Gallery of the Association of Polish Art Photographers.

 On 11 May 2012 Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski was in Thailand on a working visit. This was the first visit to Thailand by a Polish foreign minister since 1997. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Thailand.

On 14 May, MFA Under-Secretary of State Grażyna Bernatowicz took part in the inauguration of the Human Dimension Seminar of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The Seminar is devoted to the rule of law framework for combating trafficking in human beings.

On 14 May, MFA Under-Secretary of State Grażyna Bernatowicz opened the European Union Foreign Affairs Spouses, Partners and Families Association (EUFASA) Conference in Warsaw, the first such event to be organized in Poland.

 On 9 and 10 May 2012 Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski paid an official visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. During his first day of the visit, Minister Sikorski held talks with President Thein Sein. Myanmar has recently held partial parliamentary elections. The opposition is sitting in parliament for the first time, while the authorities have freed political prisoners and liberated the economy. For us, Poles, this sounds familiar. We welcome the fact that the Myanmar authorities have been following our transition process, Minister Sikorski said after the meeting.
