Poland explicitly calls for the territorial integrity of Georgia to be respected. In further course, we are waiting for the full realisation of the Sarkozy-Medvedev six-point plan, the last point of which speaks about the necessity of an international discussion about the future status of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as well as solutions that will guarantee lasting security in the region.

        The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hereby warns Polish citizens against fraudsters who are sending requests via the Internet for financial help for people staying in refugee camp in Dakar. Particular care is recommended in contacts with people presenting themselves as lawyers or proxies of people staying in such camps. There is no refugee camp in Dakar.

        On 20 August 2008 in Warsaw, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, and US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Government of the United States of America regarding the placement in Poland of anti-ballistic defensive missile interceptors and adopted a Declaration regarding strategic cooperation between the Republic of Poland and the United States of America. These documents constitute an important step in the development and intensification of strategic cooperation between both countries.

        On 21 August 2008, Minister Radosław Sikorski met a delegation of American senators: Joseph Liebermann – an independent senator, and Lyndsey Graham representing the Democrats.

        On 20 August at 11.30, in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (Sala Kolumnowa), the signing ceremony will take place of the agreement between the government of the Republic of Poland and the government of the United States of America regarding the placement in Poland of anti-ballistic defensive missile interceptors.         The Ministry of Foreign Affairs received with satisfaction news of the release on 16th August 2008 of Alaksandar Kazulin, a presidential candidate in the Republic of Belarus presidential elections in 2006. In our view, this is a positive step, which testifies to the readiness of the Belarusian authorities to start the gradual process of democratising the country.
