Born January 12 1957 in Lębork.

1981 −  graduated Gdansk University, foreign trade major

1981 −  Foreign Department of the National Executive Commission of Solidarity
Taught English and Russian during martial law

1987-1989 – member of the board at Modem Co. Ltd.

1989-1991 – Foreign Affairs Bureau of the National Commission of Solidarity, staff member and office manager

1992-1994 – Przekaz Co. Ltd. (publishers of regional press)

1994-1996 – Gdansk Municipal Heating Enterprise, World Bank projects

1996-1997 − consultant, World Bank projects

1998-2003 − vice-president, Supervisory Board of the Social Insurance Institution ( Board member from 2001)

1999-2001 −  European integration counselor to the President of the Office for Health Insurance Supervision

2000 −  international affairs adviser to the Prime Minister, acting director
of the Foreign Affairs Department at the Chancellery of the  Prime Minister

2001 − Gdansk city councilor

2002-2004 − deputy mayor of Gdansk

2004-2005 − deputy to the European Parliament, coordinator of the Union for Europe of the Nations Group at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament
