A meeting of the foreign ministers of NATO member countries was held in Brussels on 2nd - 3rd December 2008. Radosław Sikorski, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Poland, presided over the Polish delegation.
During the meeting, sessions of the North Atlantic Council, the NATO-Ukraine Commission and the NATO-Georgia Commission took place. Meetings of NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue were also hold. An important part of the session was the working meeting of the ministers in the NATO-EU formula, convened to discuss current cooperation issues between the two organisations.
The meeting’s agenda also included discussion of NATO’s operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo and the Alliance’s relations with Georgia and Ukraine in the context of these two countries’ integration aspirations. NATO’s future relationship with Russia was also debated. The ministerial meeting marked an important stage in the preparations for NATO’s jubilee Summit next year.
