Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski travelled to Kiev on Feb. 25th at the invitation of the Ukrainian side to take part in the inauguration of Viktor Yanukovych as Ukraine’s new president.
Minister Sikorski participated in a session of the Supreme Council of Ukraine, held on the occasion of the inauguration and followed by an official reception given by the Ukrainian authorities.
The Polish participation in the inaugural celebrations is an expression of our unbending will to strengthen the strategic dimension of Polish-Ukrainian relations and to work constructively with the new, democratically elected president. One of the Polish foreign policy priority objectives towards Kiev is supporting Ukraine’s internal transformations that help bring the country closer to the European Union standards.
