Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski led the Polish delegation on 1 December 2011 to the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting in Brussels.
The 1 December Foreign Affairs Council was preceded with a meeting on 30 November during which Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak discussed over dinner the FAC conclusions on the Common Foreign and Defence Policy.
As regards the Common Security and Defence Policy, the Foreign Affairs Council with the participation of Defence Ministers adopted the Conclusions. Decision has been taken to enhance the EU capacity to plan operations and to activate in January 2012 the EU Operations Centre – for the first time in the CSDP history. The Foreign Ministers also confirmed the need to develop cooperation on the CSDP with Eastern Partners
The FAC agenda saw discussion on the current situation in the region of Western Balkans and Iran. The talks also focused on the latest developments in the EU Southern Neighborhood countries and the Middle East peace process.
