It is with a tremendous sense of loss that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs bids the final farewell to the distinguished members of the Polish Foreign Service who lost their lives in the plane crash in Smoleńsk as they accompanied the President of Poland Lech Kaczyński on the way to the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the Katyń Massacre.
We lost our dear colleagues: Andrzej Kremer, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mariusz Handzlik, Undersecretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of Poland; Stanisław Jerzy Komorowski, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of National Defence; Mariusz Kazana, Director of Diplomatic Protocol
With their untiring efforts and outstanding service for the Republic of Poland they brought honour to the country and made an invaluable contribution to building the position of democratic Poland in the international arena. We bid the final goodbye to the eminent professionals and our valued companions. They belonged to the very elite of the Polish diplomacy. Their tragic death is an irreparable loss to the Foreign Service of the Republic of Poland.
