On January 10 2008 Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak paid a visit to Warsaw. Deputy Minister Kislyak met with Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski and, separately, with Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Witold Waszczykowski. Taking part in the latter meeting were experts for both sides.

        These were the first meetings at such senior level devoted to the missile defence project. The parties exchanged views, discussed the technical potential of the system and presented arguments for the positions of their two countries concerning MD. The talks were held in a good atmosphere, which permitted an open exchange of views.

        The talks are to be continued within the next few months.
