The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hereby gives notice that in connection with the disturbances in Ulan Bator, the President of Mongolia has issued a decree introducing a state of emergency in the city from 1 July 2008 to 5 July 2008 up to 24.00.
One person has died and 300 have been injured as a result of the disturbances. A curfew has been imposed in the centre of the city from 22.00 to 08.00 and the area is closed to vehicle traffic. Pedestrian movement is being controlled. A ban on using amplification equipment has been introduced. Broadcasts by Mongolian commercial television and radio have been suspended for the duration of the state of emergency. Only the state channel TV MNB and state radio are broadcasting. Army and police units are ensuring public order. Streets are being blocked by military armoured vehicles.
In connection with the development of events which is difficult to predict, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends Polish citizens to take far-reaching precautions when travelling to that country and in particular to avoid travelling to Ulan Bator.
