Austrian “News” weekly, issue 6/08, published an article titled “We called her ‘the beast’ in the concentration camp”, which included the following sentences: “on 3rd November classical music could be heard coming from loudspeakers of the eastern Polish concentration camp of Majdanek” and “for 18 months the present day 85-year-old lady was a guard in the Polish death camp". Reacting to the phrasing “Polish concentration camp” as well as “Polish death camp”, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vienna sent a letter on 08.02.2008 to the editor in chief of “News” weekly (Josef Votz) which included a request to publish an appropriate correction. The letter from the press attaché along with the correction was published in the “Readers’ letters” column in the 7/08 issue of the “News” weekly.

        Austrian “Falter” weekly, issue 6/08, published an article entitled “The Case of Erna Wallisch”, which included the following sentence: "on the following day, the first gassings took place in the Polish death camp of Belzec”. In reaction to the phrase “Polish death camp” the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vienna sent a letter dated 6.02.2008 to the editor in chief of “Falter” weekly (Armin Thurner) which included a request to publish an appropriate correction. Issue 7/08 of the weekly included a correction which stated that the author of the above mentioned article incorrectly used the phrase “Polish death camp" with reference to what actually should be referred to as a “German concentration camp located in Poland”.
