On 12th January in the Przeździeckich Palace in Warsaw a commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Poland and the United States of America took place. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, the US Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, and invited guests took part. Speeches by Minister Sikorski and the US Ambassador were given as well as an exchange of diplomatic notes and gifts commemorating the occasion.
After the end of the First World War, the United States was the first country among the great powers to recognise Polish independence. The ceremony in the MFA Palace was just one of the events planned to celebrate the anniversary in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Polish institutions as well as the US Embassy in Warsaw and the US Consulate General in Kraków have been involved.
