On his second day of the US visit, Polish Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Radosław Sikorski met US Seretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
During the joint press conference, both sides discussed the future of Polish – American cooperation in a security area. Secretary Rice stressed, that the purpose of reinforcing and modernizing of Polish air defenses is to enable Poland to be a stronger NATO ally with the United States. „The idea is that America and Poland (..) can do more together in the future”, said Rice.
Radosław Sikorski stated that he is satisfied with the talks with his American counterpart. He said that Polish-US dialogue will intensify on two separate issues: missile defense base and the modernization of the Polish armed forces. Both sides will resume negotiations.
Earlier that day Sikorski had given keynote speech at the Hudson Institute conference on energy security in Europe, and then met the journalists of The Washington Post.
In the afternoon Sikorski met Ms. Madeleine Albright, and subsequently General Brent Scowcroft.
